Planting 101

Students and staff joined The Green Roots outside for a day of planting! We bought a variety of seeds from edible plants such as spinach, beans, and herbs to beautiful wildflowers and grasses. We taught individuals how to start a plant from just the seed itself and gave them specific care instructions depending on the plant they chose. Using biodegradable seed starters that consisted of paper towel and toilet paper rolls, egg cartons, newspaper, and mesh pots we demonstrate reducing, reusing and recycling our waste we create in the home. This event promoted sustainable lifestyle habits.
